These disorders of mood, cognitive and neurovegetative function often result in marked psychosocial deterioration and significant disability.. In many cases, conventional therapeutic responses show limits of efficacy, especially when clinical pictures have refractory components or manifestations closely related to environmental stressors..

In the field of neuroscience and non-invasive neuromodulation techniques, research is constantly focused on identifying state-of-the-art therapeutic strategies able to optimise patients’ quality of life. This is the context for REAC technology (Radio Electric Asymmetric Conveyer), a technology platform designed for neurobiological and biological modulation.

Source analysis: the design of the clinical study

An important scientific study published in the international peer-reviewed journal Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment assessed the efficacy of specific REAC neuromodulation protocols in the simultaneous treatment of depression, anxiety and stress.

As a standardised measurement tool, the research used the psychometric scale DASS-42 (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-42 items), a self-assessment questionnaire that independently and simultaneously quantifies the severity of the three negative emotional states.

Methodology and monitored population

The study design compared two populations matched for sex and age, assessed about 3 months apart:

Treated Group (N = 182): Composed of 72 men and 110 women (average age 52.99 ± 16.26 years) who had clinical positivity to depression, anxiety and stress traits at the first administration of the DASS-42 test. Patients underwent two specific REAC protocols in succession.

Untreated Control Group (N = 182): Composed of 70 men and 112 women (average age 47.47 ± 14.52 years) randomly selected by software from a pool of about 6,000 subjects who had performed the online test twice, with a time interval comparable to that of the treated group.

Applied Neurobiological Modulation Protocols

The study group received two types of sequential treatment administered with the medical device model BENE Mod 110 (produced by ASMED, Florence, Italy):

Neuropostural Optimization (NPO): It consists of a single administration lasting 250 milliseconds delivered on a specific area of the auricle. The NPO aims to optimise neurotransmission throughout the whole brain.

Neuropsychophysical Optimization (NPPO): It involves a treatment cycle of 18 sessions, each lasting about 3 seconds, also administered to specific areas of the auricle. The aim of this protocol is to improve the individual coping (adaptation) capacity in the face of environmental stressors.

Observed results

The statistical analysis of the data, performed by Wilcoxon and Sign tests, detected highly significant changes (P< 0.05) exclusively in the REAC treatment group.

At baseline, the treated group showed mean levels corresponding to mild severity for depression and anxiety, and moderate severity for stress. Thanks to the speed of execution and the absence of systemic side effects, this technology is a valuable support for neuropsychophysical optimisation projects and for the overall improvement of the patient’s quality of life.

The information in this article is provided for information and educational purposes only and is based on the published scientific evidence cited in the source.
