Introduction

Depression, anxiety and stress are a symptomatic triad extremely widespread in contemporary society, capable of affecting both healthy subjects at particular stages of life and patients suffering from several concomitant diseases.. Analysis of the Source: The Design of the Clinical Study

A major scientific study published in the international peer-reviewed journal Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment assessed the effectiveness of specific REAC neuromodulation protocols in the simultaneous treatment of depression, anxiety and stress.

  • Untreated Control Group (N = 182): Composed of 70 men and 112 women (average age 47.47 ± 14.52 years) randomly selected by software from a pool of about 6,000 subjects who had performed the online test twice, with a time interval comparable to that of the treated group.

Applied Neurobiological Modulation Protocols

The study group received two types of sequential treatment administered via the medical device. model BENE Mod 110 (Produced by ASMED, Florence, Italy):

  1. Neuropostural Optimization (NPO): It consists of a single administration lasting 250 milliseconds delivered on a specific area of the auricle. The NPO aims to optimise neurotransmission throughout the brain mass.
  2. Neuropsychophysical Optimization (NPPO): It involves a treatment cycle of 18 sessions, each lasting approximately 3 seconds, also administered in specific areas of the auricle. The aim of this protocol is to improve the capacity of coping individual (adaptation) against environmental stressors.

Observed results

The statistical analysis of the data, performed by Wilcoxon and Signs tests, detected highly significant changes (P< 0.05) exclusively in the REAC treatment group.

At baseline, the treated group showed average levels corresponding to mild severity for depression and anxiety, and moderate for stress.. At the second check, carried out about 3 months later, the average scores were standardized within the values of clinical normality:

In contrast, there were no clinically or statistically relevant changes between the first and second measurements in the untreated control group (mean depression values increased from 12,648 to 12,868; anxiety from 11,786 to 10,412; stress from 16,582 to 15,934).

Population distribution graphs (Gaussian curves) indicate a marked shift of treated patients towards the lowest levels of severity and a progressive concentration in the ranges of psychometric normality..

Clinical Implications and Mechanism of Action of ASMED Technology
